About Flick Gillett

I am a self-taught mosaic artist based in Cross Hills, near Skipton in North Yorkshire, working from a basement studio with views over my garden to the Yorkshire hills beyond. Much of my inspiration comes from this landscape, and flowers, birds and bees feature abundantly in the majority of my mosaics.

My materials of choice include traditional ceramic and glass tiles, stained glass, and vintage china. Ten years ago, I started my journey into mosaics by making gifts for family and friends.  I began selling pieces a couple of years later and now work on a mixture of my own designs and commissions. I have exhibited with BAMM North on four occasions at RHS Garden Harlow Carr near Harrogate and three times at Osborne’s café in York.  I have also held three very successful solo exhibitions at The Blue Teapot café in Mytholmroyd.

I teach courses and hold workshops in my home studio and welcome students of all abilities.  Aware of my own first faltering steps, I aim to deliver courses where complete novices can come along and try their hands at something new.

If you are interested in finding out more about my courses, please check out my website here.

I joined BAMM (British Association for Modern Mosaic) in February 2019 and took on the roles of BAMM North Administrator in November 2020 and Treasurer in May 2022.
